Pomnik akcji partyzanckiej, 1944
W dniu 15 czerwca 1944 r. żołnierze AK przeprowadzili w centrum Kielc (w pobliżu siedziby gestapo, przy skrzyżowaniu dzisiejszych ulic Paderewskiego i Solnej) udaną akcję likwidacyjną niebezpiecznego hitlerowca. Franz Wittek był szefem siatki agentów kieleckiego gestapo i przyczynił się do aresztowania wielu członków konspiracji i ruch oporu.
Dowódcą akcji był ppor. Kazimierz Smolak „Nurk".

On the 15th of June 1944 Home Army soldiers conducted in Kielce's city centre (close to the headquarters of Gestapo, at the crossing of Paderewskiego and Solna Street) a successful action of liquidating a dangerous Nazi. Franz Wittek was the head of a net of Gestapo agents in Kielce and contributed to the arrest of many members of underground and resistance movement. Second lieutenant Kazimierz Smolak alias "Nurk" was in charge of the action.
